What Time Is It?

Time

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! No, not the holidays but Daylight Savings Time (in the Fall when we get an extra hour in our day)!  It feels so luxurious, doesn’t it? Even if you know that you are going to use that extra hour to sleep, it feels wonderful.

Last week my husband and I flew to California to attend the funeral of a dear friend. He will be desperately missed. For him, it was his time to pass into eternity. For his family, it is their time to grieve the loss of his daily presence.

Time is a precious thing.

“But I trust in you, Lord; I say, ‘You are my God. My times are in your hands.’”

Psalm 31:14-15a NIV

What “time” is it in your life?

Is it single time? Married time? Work Time or Retirement time?  Maybe it is staying home with little ones or being a grandma to little one’s time. In the midst of it all, there are quiet times and loud times, busy times and slow times, times of suffering and loss, times of blessing and abundance. I want to remind you that in all of your times, God is with you.

Being a daughter of God, redeemed by Jesus doesn’t mean that now all of your time goes perfectly without struggle or stress.  It means that you are not alone. You have a God who has not abandoned you to deal with it on your own. He loves you and will walk with you through all your times: good times, bad times or in-between times. Heart-wrenching times, peace-filled times, exhausting-times, and resting-times. And sometimes that is all in one day.

There are three elements in the Scripture verse above:

  1. Trust – “But I trust in you, Lord”
  2. Lordship – “I say, ‘You are my God'”
  3. Time – “My times are in your hands”

It is an intentional turn toward the arms of Jesus when you feel insecure and worried.

It is an intentional reminder to your soul that you are not god of your own life, with full control and power. Jesus is, and He is trustworthy. He is dependable. He is in control when everything in your life feels out of control.

It is an intentional awareness that no matter what time or season you are experiencing,  God is holding you in the palm of His very capable hands.

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.”

Ephesians 3:20, 21 NIV

You are loved completely, unconditionally and irrevocably by your Savior and He will use whatever season you are in to bring you to full maturity in His love.

Beloved, whatever is going on in your life and heart, I pray that right now you would be blessed with a clear awareness that God is with you.

He is able.
