Last Sunday our country played and celebrated the Superbowl. It is the final game of the NFL season. The final two teams standing. The best of the best.
Hmmmmmm. Best of the best. Says who? The Sports world… the NFL, the earthly carnal world. Now don’t get me wrong. This girl here LOVES sports, especially football. But who do you think deserves to be called “super”?
Who deserves to be celebrated?
Let’s look at scripture to see how God describes himself. Who God says he is : in Exodus 3:14 God says to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” In Revelation 1:8 He claims, “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”
So, I guess my question to you is, “Where do you go to seek your standard of “super”?
Who and what do you celebrate?
Who would Jesus celebrate and call super?
One of our core values at BELOVED is to celebrate.
We truly believe God calls us to – Rest, Play, and Celebrate this life. This is a God-daughter relationship. But how in practical, everyday life do we play this out?
Celebration is a broad term that could vary greatly depending upon circumstance and situation. I do know this but the celebration doesn’t have to be external.
Celebration involves the heart. God cares about your heart. You need to guard your heart. (Proverbs 4:23)
Psalm 118:15 says
“Shouts of joy and victory resound in the tents of the righteous; “The Lord’s right hand has done mighty things!”
This Scripture tells us where victory reigns- in the tents of the righteous. The word “righteous” means right-standing with God which is available to us through the work of Jesus Christ. And because of the death and resurrection of Jesus – you and I have full access to the presence of God and God IS TO BE celebrated. God is the mighty one, the “super” one. The amazing good news is because we are His in Jesus and belong to Him because of Jesus- we are righteous. That makes us “super”!
Happy Super Bowl Beloved sisters and regardless of which team took home the Championship, we as daughters of the Highest King can celebrate a victory in knowing we are “super” because our Savior, Jesus Christ is “super”!
