The Odds

My friend, you are not here by mistake. You were created with a purpose and equipped to live it. You are loved by your Father in heaven and wrapped within His amazing embrace today.

You are loved.

What are the odds that you are here, right now, during this moment in history?

Statisically, the probability of any one of us being born as we are in this precise time and place is so unlikely that your very existence verges on the miraculous. It should be a continuing source of amazement for each one of us.

The odds of bowling a 300 game are 1 in 11,500.

The odds of being hit by lightning are 1 in 576,000.

The odds of getting a royal flush on your first five cards are 1 in 649,740.

The odds of winning a $340 million jackpot in the lottery are about 1 in 175,000,000.

The odds of you being born in this particular time, place, and circumstance are about 1 in 400,000,000,000.

You are not here by mistake.

You are important.

Use your voice.

Tell your story.

Listen well and love those around you.

The light shines in the darkness and love is needed where there is none.

Don’t be surprised at the darkness or be shocked that there are loveless places.

Love is the light this world needs and we are called to bring it.

Love the people within your circle of influence with all the grace that God has lavished on you.  Let the light and love of God burn bright within your heart and overflow to every interaction you have because:

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

Matthew 5: 14-16 NIV
