Mission and focus:
We are a church who seeks to embrace a spirit of radical hospitality. Calling upon Micah 6:8, we seek to do justice, love kindness and walk humbly with our God.
We believe we are called to move outside the doors of the church as we share the overflowing love of God with our neighbors down the street and across the globe.
At Ridglea, outreach is about relationships. Relationships with those who are in need of support, assistance and guidance; and relationships with each other as we grow into new ways of awareness and action.
We serve out of a longing to live into God’s grace and wholeness for all of humanity. We serve through
financial giving, through physical service, and through advocacy and seeking justice.
Currently, we support the following 2 partners to help meet needs of immigrants and refugees in our community. We welcome volunteers, financial contributions, and requests for more information about this ministry.
International Newcomer Academy–The academy works with middle and high school students who are new residents in the Fort Worth Independent School District, arriving in the U.S. as immigrants or refugees. A welcoming place is provided for their first year or 2 to start the process of adjusting to a new language, life, and culture, as well as a new school system. Ridglea Christian Church supports these students and families through donations of furniture and household goods for the family resource closet.
Refugee Services of Texas–Fort Worth–RST provides refugees with basic services and needs during their initial resettlement to the U.S. Ridglea Christian Church helps with welcoming families as they arrive to DFW, apartment setup, groceries, as well as help with celebrating cultural holidays such as Afghan New Year.

University Christian Church has a long history of partnering with Refugee Services of Texas–Fort Worth. Teams of members have received training and made connections via RST and Disciples of Christ Refugee and Immigration Ministries and have also partnered with Catholic Charities of Fort Worth. We continue to help welcome newly arrived refugee families from Afghanistan and other countries to support their transition to Fort Worth/Arlington. Actions include welcoming families at the airport, donating household items, finding/setting up homes, providing rides to and from appointments, shopping for groceries, and accessing education.
We would welcome times to share experiences, ideas, updates, and questions with other North Texas congregations/organizations as we work to support the needs of new neighbors who have arrived as immigrants or refugees.
