HRI of North Texas provides free legal representation and social services to vulnerable immigrants who have been victims of human rights abuses, domestic violence, violent crimes, and child abuse/abandonment for non-detained immigrants. HRI also represents unaccompanied children. Clients must fall below 150% of Federal Poverty Guidelines and in be in the North Texas area to be eligible for services. Some staff speak Spanish. Refugee-Welcome-Collective

Refugee Welcome Collective

The Refugee Welcome Collective collaborates with partners to provide in-depth training programs, weekly learning sessions, learning resources, and on-demand technical assistance for sponsors, community sponsorship staff, refugees paired with sponsors, and community and institutional partners to support quality community sponsorship programs across the United States.

Refugee Welcome Collective (RWC) works with the Nine National Resettlement Agencies and the local partners of those agencies, such as Refugee Services of Texas as well as directly with local community sponsor groups, such as a congregation. CWS is Church World Services. LnL is Lunch and Learn, which are training webinars produced by RWC.

Our Lunch and Learn sessions are geared towards volunteers and groups who are working to welcome refugees to your community.

Lunch and Learn sessions include lessons from play therapy into the work of play therapy into the work of welcoming newcomers. Another example is to teach clients about their responsibilities as a renter.

Technical Assistance is also available to community sponsor groups to discuss any topics of concern or just to brainstorm a particular issue or interest by emailing ta@refugeewelcome.org for more information.

We provide transitional room and board, clothing, food, legal aid, transportation for the change of venue of refugees reuniting with family members and sponsors, spiritual counseling, and the powerful message of Jesus Christ to the refugees that come through our doors. We also help the very needed, both nationally and internationally by providing goods and services to the poorest-of-the-poor, in the Rio Grande Valley and in Matamoros, Mexico. Our Orphanage located in Las Brisas, Mexico is a shelter for 32 kids, providing food, toiletries, funds for school supplies and uniforms, and many other needs they may have. We also support Mexican dining halls located in the landfill of Matamoros.
